Latest News St Michael’s Catholic Primary & Nursery Academy Achieves the CAFOD LiveSimply Award St Michael’s Catholic Primary & Nursery Academy in Wolverhampton is delighted to have received the CAFOD LiveSimply Award, recognising the school community’s commitment to living simply, sustainably, and in solidarity with those in poverty. They are one of the latest schools in our Archdiocese to complete the programme – and now nearly 100% of diocesan schools are signed up to the LiveSimply journey, with many already accredited or well on their way. This remarkable take-up shows the shared commitment of our schools to putting faith into action and responding to the call of Laudato Si’ to care for our common home. A Journey of Faith in ActionAt St Michael’s, pupils, staff, and families have embraced a wide range of initiatives, including: Caring for creation – reducing energy use, celebrating Earth Day, promoting Fairtrade, and protecting the environment through litter picking and assemblies on plastic pollution. Supporting others – fundraising through CAFOD’s Big Lent Walk, Children in Need, Macmillan Coffee Morning, the Poppy Appeal, and a pre-loved toy sale to support children in India. Building peace – praying together for peace at all religious events, with every child receiving a rosary kindly donated by the Catenian Rosary group. Living Gospel values – showing kindness, compassion, and love in daily life, following the example of the saints.Inspired by Laudato Si’ The school shared:“Inspired by Pope Francis’s encyclical Laudato Si’, the award has encouraged our pupils to put their faith into action in meaningful and practical ways. Guided by the principles of the LiveSimply Award, we remain dedicated to building a more just and sustainable world, working together to build God’s kingdom here on earth.” A Diocesan Commitment St Michael’s achievement reflects a much wider story: across the Archdiocese, almost all schools are now engaged in the LiveSimply process. This movement is helping to form young people who understand that faith calls us to simplicity, solidarity, and care for God’s creation. Congratulations to St Michael’s Catholic Primary & Nursery Academy and to all our diocesan schools and parishes who have embraced the LiveSimply journey. Together, they are showing what it means to live the Gospel with joy, courage, and hope. Learn more about the CAFOD LiveSimply Award here: CAFOD LiveSimply Award Manage Cookie Preferences
