Latest Events Icon Day at Stratford-upon-Avon, Thursday 3 September Invitation The Parish of St Gregory the Great, Stratford-upon-Avon, will be hosting a special day on the Feast of St Gregory, Thursday 3 September, to mark the completion of two newly commissioned icons written by Fr Alex Echeandίa Loro OSB, Prior of the monastery of Lurin, in Lima, Peru. The subjects of the icons will be St Benedict and St Gregory. Abbot Jeremias Scröder, the Abbot Primate of the world-wide Benedictine Order will speak on St Benedict and the role of his monks in the missionary work of the Church. Dr Rowan Williams, former Archbishop of Canterbury, will speak on St Gregory the Great and particularly on his book: “On Pastoral Care”. The Anglican parish church of Holy Trinity is also celebrating the writing of a new icon of the Trinity by Rev Susan Mobberley, who has been responsible for many icons in the area. The talks will be held in Stratford Town Hall and will be followed by an ecumenical service in the Guild Chapel, the medieval chapel which is used for many services during the year. The day will start with the talks at 1pm, each followed by questions and later refreshments. The joint service will finish before 5pm.
